I have consciously chosen to use my real name and email address in case 
people need / want to get a hold of me for a non-spamy reason.  Almost 
every single year, someone will contact me out of the blue after reading 
one of my messages asking for additional help with the topic at hand.

So, things like Karen, are a necessary evil in my opinion for me to be 
able to help ten (or more) times as many people.

Things like Karen are usually someone subscribed to a mailing list that 
needs to be unsubscribed for the health of the mailing list.
