Experience/User Interaction Designer
Mountain View, CA or Victoria, Canada

In this role, you will work collaboratively with software engineers in
a small team within a fast-paced environment. You will work to design
user interface components of our highly reliable, massively scalable,
high performance, and high transaction volume web application
software.

Design work will include early concepts, defining new browser-based
screens, refining the look & feel of existing screens, icon creation
and refinement, design of thick-client application user interfaces,
collecting and incorporating user feedback into and other product or
corporate-related graphical or interface design activities. Other
responsibilities will include persona creation, acting as an advocate
for user centered design, site flow, and use cases.

This role also supports the company's small marketing team. You will
be a part of the team that helps translate our business value into
visual concepts. You will also assist with the company's corporate
identity and website evolution.

Responsibilities:
·	Design the user experience of Flock Web Browser
·	Translate product / solution requirements into scalable and
efficient designs.
·	Iterate on designs with Product Management and Development staff to
ensure the designs can be implemented within project resource
constraints and conform to refined requirements.
·	Work closely with developers to refine implementation details, in a
hands-on manner wherever appropriate
·	Leverage and improve on existing brand standards (layout,
typography, color palette, etc.)
·	Work closely with Product Management and senior Engineering
management to evolve the product based upon emerging technology
trends, customer feedback, and competitive pressures
·	Collaborate with senior business managers to visually communicate
complex ideas for presentations / documentation
·	Produce icons and other graphical elements to illustrate common
elements
·	Ability to deliver web designs in the form of production-ready
XHTML / CSS a plus
·	Works closely with the marketing team on various projects such as
tradeshow visuals, graphic development and website design support

Qualifications:
·	Significant experience (4+ yrs) web-based UI design, with at least 2
years designing commercial software products or equivalent experience
·	Excellent analytical and design skills
·	Expertise with current prototyping / design tools (Visio, Photoshop,
or equivalent)
·	Thorough knowledge of standards-based, semantic design using XHTML
and CSS; cross-browser design compatibility experience highly desired;
·	Experience in working with personas, or persona creation a strong
plus.
·	AJAX design experience / knowledge a strong plus
·	Experience working with source control systems is preferred
·	Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to
communicate complex ideas and designs to both technical and non-
technical staff
·	Enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
·	Self-motivated; able to demonstrate initiative and risk-taking
·	Desire to take a strong ownership over design of projects, seeing
the vision through from inception to implementation
·	Experience conducting usability analysis or end user research a plus
