On further investigation into this, I've found that using the latest  
version of mplayer (rc2, I was naughty and was previously using rc1)  
resolves this problem.

However, I have noticed that the clips repeat endlessly when finished, and  
they don't do that when using media player under windows. Is there  
something obvious that I've missed?
