Well firefox 2.0.0.11 is newer than mozilla 1.1 so you are safe there.
mplayerplug-in seems to be at an ok version so that should be fine, your
mplayer is a little old, but it should work.

As for the file playing twice. Without seeing the web page I can't
really help here. If it is a realplayer based site there could be some
problems with the realplayer emulation that cause it to play twice. If
that is the case you may try my newer version of mplayerplug-in called
gecko-mediaplayer. The real player emulation is much better in it.
Please remove mplayerplug-in if you install gecko-mediaplayer.

Defunct mplayer instances can be caused by running mplayer against a
newer glib than it was compiled against. So I would try just rebuilding
it. Also some codecs can be a little crash prone and getting the latest
code should help with some of that.
