I'm afraid that I don't use PrefBar, so I can't really help you, but have you definitely tried narrowing it down to MZ being the problem? Does the problem not occur if MZ is not installed? Do you get any errors on the Javascript console? Oh, and the next release of MZ will have one-click access to blocking images/frames/scripts/plugins :o).
