You're rehashing a decision that was made the better part of a year ago. 
If you'd like to offer feedback on the actual location of the version 
number, that would be on-topic for this thread. If you want to talk 
about why we moved to a rapid release model at the beginning of this 
year, you probably want the .planning newsgroup and I suggest you read 
that history before asking why there.
