"Removed" is too strong a word, as no functionality has been actually removed, just instead of being an explicit menu item, it's an action that is automatically started when opening this dialog. And I find that a quite clever idea, as it was always strange that a menu item would dynamically change for the status of an action, it's way more logical to have that status displayed in a dialog - and that one already existed and already was closely connected with the question of "do I have the most current Firefox or is an update there?".
