I agree, and that's one reason why I don't like the current Windows UI much - interestingly, they seem to be turning this around a lot and making Windows 8 use high contrast again, even though with a completely different UI philosophy. The "problem" of course is that Windows is AeroGlass all around, and Firefox needs to follow that or look outdated and not fitting into the system. Sometimes running on a system you don't design puts you into interesting situations in terms of UX planning.
