Sorry, my comment was not very clear. 'offline.autoDetect' is classified 
in the Mozilla knowledgebase as a 'Mail and News' setting. What I was 
wondering is whether the status of that setting (true|false) in 
SeaMonkey affects ONLY the newsreader and email component, or if it is 
applied to ALL of SeaMonkey (the web browser component, too).

That figures. Makes sense, when the developers consider it to be for 
mail and news. Hope they'll add it to Firefox, too.
