Manual entry of HTTP 1.1/Hostname to circumvent DNS censorship

i think it's about high time that developers of web browsers will implement this feature. What prompted me to finally say this was the Turkey's ban of Twitter, as well as some extensive censorship or dysfunctional network that I experienced in an office workplace several months ago.

One way to circumvent DNS-based censorship is to manually perform a lookup from one of countless web sites that offer such service. But that doesn't help if the server will return "Invalid hostname" or similar when the user types the IP address to the address bar. That is likely to happen if the server is hosting multiple domains.

My suggestion is for the browser to show a text field with a caption of something like "HTTP 1.1/Hostname (optional)" below the address bar when the browser has detected that the user has typed an IP address.
