Force font style in spumux

Is there a way to get spumux render font in bold/italic style even if I don't have a 
`fontname_bold.ttf' or a `fontname_italic.ttf' font file? (OOo Writer can do this)
I mean, is this a matter of spumux? Otherwise, is some freetype setting involved?
