Yup.

I’m inclined to blame libdvdread. (Or is that libdvdnav? I’m not sure 
what the relationship is between the two...) If you look at the source, 
it is full of direct printf calls to display errors, and also abort 
calls to kill the program, instead of returning error codes to the caller.

My guess is, you hit one of those abort calls.
