Problem with spumux and accented subtitles

Hello,

When I try to encode a subtitle that has accented words, I got this error
in spumux:

DVDAuthor::spumux, version 0.7.0.
Build options: gnugetopt graphicsmagick iconv freetype fribidi fontconfig

This position is the first accented letter

is there a way to fix it?
