ERR: no video format specified for VTSM

Dear dvdauthor-users,

in the latest release auf dvdauthor, the implicit default video format was 
removed, so it now has to be explicitely set by either configuring and 
building it with a default format, specifying /etc/video_format, 
~/.config/video_format and/or the VIDEO_FORMAT env variable.

however, shouldn't it still be possible to specify all necessary parameters 
inside the given author xml?
i think the following markup should contain the format spec in every necessary 
place:
