I just thought of something else: you could split the days of one month
across multiple screens, say putting no more than 8 days on one screen.
At the top of the screen you can put “next 8 days” and “previous 8
days” buttons which work as auto-action buttons: they take effect as
soon as you highlight them.

This way, you actually reduce the total number of button presses to get
to any day.
