setting manual focus without constantly switching live view on and off

hello,

is it possible to set the manual focus like in the eos utillity without the
mirror going up and down on every setting? I worry about the mechanical
parts around the mirror getting destroyed after too much use.

I am able to control the focus via usb with gphoto2 but only by
"--set-config output=0" before the command each time. So for every step i
set manualfocusdrive the mirror goes up and down.


I tried setting a wait event after "--set-config output=0" but it blocks the
usb.

the eos utility keeps the live view on while its possible to move the focus
up and down without the mirror going up and down.
