My guess would be that more details are needed.  This is a USB
connection?  Are the cable and the connectors OK?  An intermittent
connection could do it I think.  Is the camera timing out and turning
off after some period?  I assume you've got some AC supply powering
it.  Is the time period before it disconnects always the same?  That
implies a timeout.  Is the computer busy doing something else at the
same time?  Can you capture any sort of log?  It sounds about
impossible to troubleshoot remotely, would it be possible to
physically move the camera and computer to your location temporarily?
Then put them back once you've gotten it so it runs for at least a few
days.  Can you have the computer turn the camera off and on to reset
it?  Just making guesses because nobody else is really.
