Cannon EOS M100

We are trying to control a Cannon M100 from a Raspberry Pi 3 with Gphoto2 -
its listed as having image capture capabilities, but we are having no end of
problems.  My Dev guys are trying everything but we cannot get it to work.

So I thought I would ask the simple question first.  Has anyone got this
capture working with this camera?  If not I can just go change the camera
rather than spend more days running endless tests!

If the answer is no - is this a problem with the M series in general?  I
have found a few posts from 2016 which had similar issues.  I was hoping
that the M10 might work now and the M100 was just a bit too new.  I can
easily get an M10 to develop with and wait for the m100 if that's close -
its a really nice camera for what we need and I really like to use it if
possible, but we could go for a DSLR instead if its less pain.

Any advice or assistance gratefully received.
