Hello,

At the Internet Archive, we use gphoto2 in our book digitization =
software, and have for many years. We are currently using various Sony =
camera models, and we are having some trouble with the a7r4 model and =
its variants.

Following information in some bug reports, we have found that the camera =
requires calling capture-image-and-download with a wait-event like so: =
"gphoto2 --wait-event=3D3s --capture-image-and-download"

This allows us to capture from the camera, but even after finishing the =
command, the camera seems to remain in a not-ready steady for a few =
seconds afterward, so that if you call a second capture command, it will =
error, and the camera will become locked and require restarting it =
before it can capture again.

Yurii Didyk, a programmer working on the software, has filed a bug =
report here: https://github.com/gphoto/libgphoto2/issues/907

He has also just uploaded a log to the bug report demonstrating the =
issue, where a PTP timeout occurs and it believes the camera is in an =
unexpected state.

How can we help to debug and fix this issue? Is there any other =
information we can provide or tests we can run?

Thanks in advance for any help and for the continued development of the =
gphoto software in general.
