Input/output error when ripping

Hi there,

please apologise if this has been already covered, but i didn't find
it in the archive ...

I use grip-3.2.0_5 on a FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE-p4 running on an IBM
ThinkPad t40 with integrated dvd-rom/cdrw combo drive.

With both ATACD (ide) and ATAPICAM (ide over scsi) i'm getting errors
when ripping CDs, but usually only at about track 12 or so, depending
on the size of the titles (so i assume after ripping about 60% of the
disc).

The grip log gets the following output:

The same time i see in the global system log:

I tracked down 'Sense key: 6 ASC: 29 ASCQ: 0' to be "Miscompare During
Verify Operation", so it seems that cdparanoia had a problem in
verifying a misread sector and did reset the cdrom but is unable to
proceed after that.

Only a full abort and restart of the ripping process makes me proceed
with ripping the CD.
I also tried to fix that with selecting the options for 'delay before
ripping' and 'stop cdrom drive between tracks' but it didn't help
either.
Both internal cdparanoia and cdda2wav seem to get these problems.

So, does anyone experienced similar problems and could provide some
hints to fix that?
