That's due to the Fedora patch which makes ogg the default.

Are you getting any wav's when you rip? If you are, perhaps you could
try running the lame command from a shell and see if it fails for some
reason. If you aren't getting wav's, then the problem isn't in
encoding, it's in the ripping.
