It's the forth icon in the lower row. Also have a look at your normal mixer (kmix, gnome-alsamixer etc.). It has a volume control for CDs. I have no idea what "Shine" is - it's not on SourceForge and Freshmeat is overloaded currently. Perhaps it uses CDDA? Grip doesn't use CDDA, but the "normal" hardware audio output of your CD-ROM.
