You can find out using rpm.

    rpm -qi lame

That will print out the info for the lame package.  The build host
file will tell you where the package was built.  On my system using
freshrpms, build host is python2.freshrpms.net.  On the livna system,
it is gruyere.lan.livna.org.

What yum repositories do you have setup on your system?  It's possible
that you have conflicting repos that are screwing up some library that
lame depends on.

I don't think so.  Mplayer does have a dependency on libmp3lame.so.0,
which lame provides, so removing lame will remove mplayer.  That's
expected.  I have mplayer installed here too and lame works just fine.

I'd suggest taking a look at what repositories you have configured
and making sure that they are designed to work together.  There are
known conflicts between freshrpms and livna, so generally you don't
want to enable both of them unless you know very well what you are
doing.

Apart from that, you could also try running the lame command from a
previous mail with the --verbose option and see if it gives you more
insight into why lame is segfaulting.
