Hi all,

I am in the process of ripping and encoding a fairly large collection
of CDs, and I find grip a great tool to accomplish this, particularly
in conjunction with easytag. A couple comments and questions:

I particularly like the flexibility of grip's configuration options,
especially the output filename formats, and I tend to modify them
regularly, depending on the kind of music (ie, popular music %a - %t
and classical music %t - %a) and other factors. It would be really
nice if grip remembered that last ten or so strings and offered a
little drop-down help screen listing the configuration switches the
way easytag does this. This would save regular trips to the
configuration switches page of the online help file.

For awhile, I encoded stuff in mp3 using lame. More recently I
switched to ogg vorbis. For some reason, accented characters in the
ID3 tag fields of mp3 files always got mangled; this doesn't happen
using ogg. Don't know why, but this is great. On the other hand, I
can't seem to figure out how to write a comment field (%c) to an ogg
file tag. Nothing about this in the oggenc man page. Anyone know how
to do this? I've tried -c %c, --comment=%c and so on...

Just curious: what is the point of the save-data-to-disk feature? As
far as I can tell, it just writes the disk ID to .cddb/. Does it
actually save the text strings as well?

Finally, I really like the new tray icon and the status info it displays.

Thanks to all involved for a great piece of software. I look forward
to seeing what further improvements you have up your collective
sleeves.
