First see that you have an encoder installed. From the command line, type

 whereis lame

If you get this result:

-----
# whereis lame
lame:
-----

... that means you don't have the lame encoder installed, and that is
your problem. (Fix: install the encoder.)

If you get a result like this one:

-----
# whereis lame
lame: /usr/bin/lame
-----

... and that is not where your Grip configuration is looking, change
your Grip configuration to look there (or make a link for the encoder in
the place where Grip is looking).

If these turn out not to be the problem, we'll need more specific
information about your operating system, and your encoder options.
