Hello Brandon,

I think Media Player Classic: Home Cinema (MPC:HC) (http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/) uses its own internal decoders, though I'm not 100% certain. The real benefit of using MPC:HC is that you may be able to use DXVA (read the wikipedia entry on that :)), which allows 3d-hardware accelerated video playback if the video has the correct parameters and you're using a DXVA compliant graphics card with current drivers. This can make 720p and 1080p content playable even on "weak" CPUs.
