currently the pkg-config files list:
 Version: 1.0RC1

this is not considered to be higher than 
Version: 1.0beta1

would be wise to use version numbers that work with other system trying
to sort by versions numbers. doing some testing it seams that
Version: 1.0rc1
would work.
