xmms command line remote control problem

Hi,

a support question:

As described in http://www.xmms.org/docs/readme.php section 4 and 7.2 I
tried e.g. to

xmms -f

and expected my running xmms to play the next song. Instead a new xmms
instance opens as if I had just typed "xmms".

Am I missing something here?

I use xmms version 1.2.7-3 (debian testing).

Any hints appreciated. TIA
