So as an end-user, I just tested this theory again. I made changes to my playlist - removed some songs and added others. After about 10 minutes I logged out of KDE and back in. My playlist state reverted to the one that was previously running. It did, however keep the Skin I switched to. The playlist I modified is only in the Playlist window, it is not a saved playlist file that was reloaded. If I wait long enough with the changes in the list they will stick. (though what I think would be really slick would be the ability to auto save your last loaded playlist file. This way, I can load a playlist file, make changes over time. Load a new list, etc. without worrying about whether or not I remembered to hit save on that last list. This should be a toggle-able option so as not to overwrite playlists by accident.) I hope I'm helping a bit with this discussion. As an Average Joe End-user of xmms, I don't particularly care about the command line switches. I just want it to do what I ask of it in the gui. Prior to this thread I didn't even know you could send switches via cli and I've been using xmms since the days of x11amp :-) > With regard to this option in general, I don't like it much. Though I would agree that its functionality should not be altered so as to let those who do use it continue to do so. > With this option enabled it is impossible to do achieve the same effect as > 'xmms filename.mp3' does today. And as others have commented, you can > enqueue songs by using 'xmms -e'. you may be able to, but personally I think its a lame requirement to do so. As I said above, most users don't care/want to have to use the cli when the gui should do it as well. > - Håvard -- Derek Schaible <[email protected]> CSSI, Inc. _______________________________________________ xmms-devel mailing list [email protected] http://lists.xmms.org/mailman/listinfo/xmms-devel
