Preserving StarOffice 6.5 (was Re: Hello)

There is some talk about removing the old converters that import the old St=
arOffice binary formats into OpenOffice.org and LibreOffice.  I don't think=
 that has happened just yet.

I would test both (say OpenOffice.org or LibreOffice 3.3.x stable versions)=
 and make sure that some of your most important/complex documents will roun=
d-trip between StarOffice and back again without difficulty.  Or if not rou=
ndtrip, that they at least open in those versions without difficulty.

Then hold onto the version that works best for you.  You should be able to =
hold onto either 3.3.x for a considerable time.=20=20

At some point you should consider migrating documents to the later ODF form=
at.  Or use the OO.o/LO built-in capability to save documents as PDF that y=
ou want to keep but no longer need to edit.
