I do not use Babylon, but I've been told it used OCR to do its magic, that is, it would take the displayed word as an image, and try to figure out from that what the characters and the word were (at least in old versions of Babylon). This allowed it to interact with many misbehaving programs, relying only on the program's actual user-interface. If this is still the case, Marcelo's problem may simply be a font issue.
