Well, I use Babylon with all types of different
programs most of them non-Microsoft, and with several languages, with no problem.

Just with OpenOffice.org Babylon does not work. I already wrote to
Babylon asking whether they have an answer.

I do not use Babylon, but I've been told it used OCR to do its magic, that is,
it would take the displayed word as an image, and try to figure out from that
what the characters and the word were (at least in old versions of Babylon).
This allowed it to interact with many misbehaving programs, relying only on
the program's actual user-interface. If this is still the case, Marcelo's
problem may simply be a font issue.

Hope this helps,
Shai.

Hi Nadine,
I guess you can say that I got this one completely wrong!

Anyone else have experience using Babylon with non-MS products (like
FireFox)?

Thanks for your comment, translated from below:

software, including OpenOffice. Good day."

Hi Marcelo,
Babylon uses Microsoft interfaces to a small set of Microsoft products
to get highlighted words. Babylon is not engineered to interface with
other Microsoft products or with any non-Microsoft products. Babylon is
in fact an extension of Microsoft Office, a particular product. It is
not a general dictionary/translation utility that can be used with other
products.

Babylon does not recognize any word of OO.
Babylon apprears in blank when I call it, and then I have to fill the
word manually.

It this an OO bug or a Babylon one ?
Does anyone have experienced that ?

Marcelo
