[OOo-Hebrew] receiving documents from MS progs

Hi
I have recently moved over to try and be a Linux only user. I have only two 
problems to make the move complete. The one is printing (which I won't go in 
to here). The other is reading documents produced by MS Office. The problems 
I'm having now are receiving letters in Hebrew from people who prepared the 
article in Word using word-art or in powerpoint using MS signs. Any Hebrew 
written as word art comes out unintelligible and Powerpoint documents have 
many strange reactions when read in Presentation e.g. the shekel sign (the 
shekel sign comes out as a small d with an equal sign crossing the top of the 
d).
Is there a way to define OO to receive these documents as written?
