1)    In an .ODT (Writer) On the condition that your table contains no 
merged cells!! ...

It is possible to sort a table on the basis of alphabetic or numeric 
criteria, but these may have to be in a separate column to do so. In 
this case, with the cells to be sorted all selected, go: {Tools-sort}.

2)    If the sorting is more complex, it might be worthwhile to paste 
the entire contents into a spreadsheet (.ODS, Calc). This will adapt 
better to more complex sorting and some rule-based selection.

3)    In the event that there is a need to simultaneously render a 
sorted selection based on the integration of data from more than one 
table, this is done in Oo Base (.ODB)

     3a)    Oo Base printing is not done in a form, as would be the case 
with Ms Access. Rather, printing, label making, mail and email merges 
are done from a "print application" which is created in Writer, although 
that creation may well start from within Base.

This leaves a more versatile relationship between the database and the 
printing, which, while a trifle more complex, has the advantage of being 
more versatile in the long run.

In any software, a relational database is the most complex and extensive 
office application, however it is also so much more versatile that it 
ends up being the backbone of business management, especially in regards 
to liaison, communications in the human sense, marketing, promotion and 
sales. Its possibilities are virtually limitless!
