question to a2ps

Dear software developers,

on my SuSe-Linux System 9.1,   a2ps version 4.13.

I use a2ps e.g. for printing source code of C++ programs.
For this purpose a2ps is comfortable for me (thank you!),
but I have one problem:
  I can print only one file, which is immediately processed
  by the printer.
  Calling a2ps for a second print process, a2ps accepts the
  task, but the printer is doing nothing!  Only if if switch the printer
  before the scond (and later print jobs for a2ps) off and on,
  the printer does its job.

What must I do, that I can print several a2ps-jobs without
this work-around ?
