a2ps and stdout

a2ps on solaris - dumps to stdoout, you can redirect to printer with | lpr a2ps on e.g. ubuntu - sends straight to default printer. I submit that the ubuntu approach is broken, and wastes paper - it's a2ps, not a2ps2printer. With -o for output file, you have to do '-o -' to get output to stdout so you can pipe it under your control. This is not the unix piping way, which is the default for sane reasons. It's a bug, and no doubt one you've heard complaints on before. When did gnu started deprecating output to stdout? thanks, Lloyd Wood http://sat-net.com/L.Wood
