Dear List: I have been doing some research about running older Apple printers with serial ports, specifically my venerable Laserwriter 300, under OS X. Originally I had thought that serial-based printers could not work under OS X, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that both the Imagewriter and Stylewriter have been made to function. I have seen software compiled for the Imagewriter and Stylewriter at http:// www.linuxprinting.org, both of which originally used Quickdraw for their printing language. My Laserwriter 300 also uses the same printing language. I have searched for a driver for my Laserwriter 300, but I have not found anything. The other software components to make the whole thing work under OS X are readily available. Since I haven't been able to find a driver for this printer and I'm new to this world, I am looking for some guidance about how to go about making my Laserwriter 300 work. How do I go about creating a driver for it? Can I use the pre-existing drivers for the Imagewriter and Stylewriter as a base from which to venture? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Roland :)
