Emphasis on 'our users' I guess.

I don't maintain the pcl build, so I'm not sure what your objection is. 
The removal only affects the next gs release; you're welcome to put it 
back when you do the next merge, or I'm happy help set up autoconf for 
pcl if that's what you want. If it's more work for me either way, I've 
already voted.
