Ralph, I'd really like to minimize the chance for the problem for the 8.13 release, and I don't see any pressing need to get the PDF 1.5 changes into 8.13. Thus, I don't agree that Dan's changes should go into the GS_8_1X branch. Am I missing some reason that this is needed ?
