Follow-up Comment #11:

Revising summary.  What Deri requested in comment #3 was support for a
user-configurable font _family_ for rendering of `EX`/`EE` regions.


Purely aesthetics, I think there are more modern mono font families which
look
nicer. Here are some examples:-

T-C.pdf (our default: TimesRoman & Courier)
T-LibC.pdf (TimesRoman & LiberationMono) Weird 'fi' ligature in word
'definition' Ugh!
T-SCP.pdf (TimesRoman & SourceCodePro)
Tinos-SCP.pdf (Tinos & SourceCodePro) My favourite.
CN-SCP.pdf (ComicNeue & SourceCodePro) A bit of fun!


That's an important distinction, as the macros are written assuming that the
four conventional styles (R, B, I, and BI) will be available.

(Strictly, that's not `EX`/`EE`'s own presumption but that of the rest of the
package, and even more strictly, _man_(7) doesn't expose a direct interface to
the `BI` style.)

The point is that one has always been able to do this:

roman stuff
.B "bold stuff"
.I "italic stuff"
.EE


...and we don't want to break that, where "break" includes derpily returning
to a proportional typeface for bold and italic content.
