Dipankar I'm not sure about the term semantically inter-related. If the idea of a concern represents some distributed purpose across a program then this could be represented by a collection of "individual statements". Although, I think a scattered concern can also represent a failure to modularise aspects inside the program i.e the separation of concerns (SoC) has not been addressed. As a SoC is generally desirable a scattered concern is likely to represent composition failure during construction of the program. However, in order to develop your idea further it may be worth looking at: Identifying, Assigning, and Quantifying Crosscutting Concerns Eaddy, M.; Aho, A.; Murphy, G.C. But my work/problem is "to extract the scattered concerns from a purely procedural program". Don't you think that a "scattered concern" may contribute individual statements (though semantically inter-related) that are scattered throughout the program. Please let me know. In many of the papers I find that if a function be called from various parts of the program and a number of times, it may be considered a possible component of a scattered concern or an Aspect. My question is that, it is highly possible that an Aspectual Components or Aspects may not be so cleanly available as a separate function or subroutine. They may be available in the form of individual statements scattered throught the whole program. In that regard do we have anyone working on 'Statement Level Aspect Mining'?
