Dipankar,

Can aspects exist as independent statements scattered throughout a program? This idea seems at odds with the following definition:

"When referring to a solution an aspect modularises a crosscutting concern (Rosenhainer 2004). Therefore, an aspect is a module containing items related to a crosscutting concern (Kaindl 2008) such as a security module."

Perhaps statements dispersed throughout a program in the way you describe may form some aspect view that is only visible at a higher level of abstraction?

Kind Regards

Charles

Subject: [aosd-discuss] Aspect Mining

Hi All,
I am working on Aspect Mining, and meanwhile going through the various works that have been done on Aspect Mining in the recent few years. In many of the papers I find that if a function be called from various parts of the program and a number of times, it may be considered a possible component of a scattered concern or an Aspect.
My question is that, it is highly possible that an Aspectual Components or Aspects may not be so cleanly available as a separate function or subroutine. They may be available in the form of individual statements scattered throught the whole program. In that regard do we have anyone working on 'Statement Level Aspect Mining'? If so, I shall be highly oblidged if anyone give me any reference the work.
