I'm now surveying all suggestions to decide which is more suitable for my
mission.

First, thanks for help.
By comparison I mean I need a software to apply my experiments on, then
compare my new edition with the original one with respect to some factors
like maintainability.
I was searching for a famous one in that area that is commonly used as a
tested s/w.
