connecting to a database is a different procedure
depending on your plataform (OS, API you feel
confortable, RDBMS you want to connect)

check your IDE docs (if you are using borland or VC
they may help), OS documantation(if you are using
windows try MSDN) and your database system
documantation (if you are using oracle otn is a great
place, again, for ms stuff (sql server), msdn has
plenty material)
