REQUIRED SKILLS:

C/C++ must be your mother tongue. Ability to develop clean cross-
platform mission-critical algorithm implementations is the most=20
important skill. You will need to be able to make decisions that will=20
lead to very readable, well-structured and commented code that=20
requires virtually no debugging upon completion. You must be balanced=20
between functional and object-oriented approaches and use them both=20
depending on the need.

Experience with image processing and pattern recognition algorithms=20
is another must. Expect to be asked to pick up the text book and=20
implement algorithms yourself instead of relying on third-party=20
libraries. As you progress, you will have an opportunity to design=20
algorithms as well.

You will interact very closely with our senior research staff =96 they=20
will be your "customers". However, we expect you to be able to work=20
independently once the task is clear.

You must be an experienced user of both Windows and UNIX-based=20
operating systems. Knowledge of command line and batch automation=20
will be required in your daily activities of running and testing=20
implemented algorithms.

Ability to neatly document your code in specific FDA-compliant format=20
is required. We will teach you the details of this process, but if=20
you have previous experience working in regulated industry (medical,=20
military, aerospace), you will be better prepared and thus will be=20
given a preference.

MSVC will be your primary compiler and debugger. GCC will be your=20
secondary compiler. Most of the code that you will write will have to=20
compile on both without warnings. At the same time, a successful=20
candidate will have skills in designing user interfaces and using=20
Windows and Linux library facilities in order to write test wrappers=20
around implementations.
