 it would mean that all other services it coordinates with should also be alive ? 

 Do you think that the amazon.com consumer facing ordering page is part of such a branding service ?
 

 I would imagine that the backend system for amazon go down temporarily however the consumer facing website is still able to function.
 

 I was thinking of designing something like that ....
