RE: Pair programming - more expensive?

First let me say something about the way the question was asked - 
1. if you say some of the managers on some of their projects than all of the
other managers on all of the other projects are fine with pair programming -
why not ask them?
2. if managers are overly concerned that programming isn't cheap - perhaps
they should stop it - no programming doesn't cost anything
3. if you talk about cost, then you must also talk about value

The first two of the above are probably not anything you can do something
useful with.

Now think about value.  How much value to you want to add, what is the value
you are tyring to add, when, where and for whom?

And think again about cost?  Are we talking about initial cost to get going
with pair programming, the cost of maintenance and bug fixing, the cost of
non-quality / non-functionality?

Think about cost vs. value?  Can you compare any 2 projects not done at the
same time, by different people, for a similar purpose, with a similar scope
and come to meaningful conclusions by sampling a small population of
projects?  So how are you going to compare pair-programming vs.
solo-programming?

I'll ask a question in analogy?  "Does religion A get you to heaven faster
than relegion B?"  My answer to that is 'Life is too interesting still to be
concerned about going to heaven fast.'

Yes we should be concerned about cost, but not if we are not concerned about
value as well.
