As I read it, Dossy was describing what is possible when the political
issues are cleared away.  Glen is describing what is possible given his
particular political issues.  This difference is generally unstated and the
cause of considerable misunderstanding, but that's quite different from
being rude or commanding someone else.  Dossy and Glen know each other well
enough to know that Dossy doesn't presume to control Glen's actions and Glen
would not be controlled by Dossy.

Yet you chastise Dossy for his email?  Hmmm...

In XP, Courage with a Capital C is one of the four values.  Saying someone
"lacks Courage" is not the same as saying they're chicken--it's saying that
they're better than they think and they can go further.
