Speaking of Glen in particular, I'd say he has a good point.

There's a tendency on mailing lists to address the lurkers. Which
leads one to sometimes treat a statement as naive, even when we
know the person saying it didn't mean it in a naive sense. It's
bothered me at times, but I've gotten over it. Glen sounds like
he's tired of it, so I think we should try not to do it.

Of course, Glen, this may end up cutting both ways. :-)
