This makes we wonder if you _really_ understood what XP and Agile is
about.

If I'd be your Customer, I'd already know about the possibility that you
may fail.  And I'd like to hear about that possibility from _you_ as soon
as you see the risk it may happen.

By doing "whatever it takes to meet that commitment" (and sacrificing
other, supposedly less important things) you delay the moment you'll
communicate me the problem.
